Your privacy matters
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit nectaire.ca or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run our little shop, and we never sell your information.
Last updated: October 2026
When you place an order, we collect the details needed to process and ship it: your name, email address, shipping address, and the contents of your order. If you tell us how you found us, we keep that too. If you begin a checkout without finishing it, we keep the cart and the email address you entered. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We also receive limited technical information automatically, such as aggregate, anonymous statistics about how the site is used.
We use your information to prepare and deliver your order, send you order-related emails (confirmation, shipping updates, and answers to your questions), keep a record of your purchases so you can track and reorder them, send you one reminder if you leave a checkout unfinished, and, if you've subscribed, send you occasional news about our products. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. Your full card details are entered directly with them and are never stored on our servers; we only receive confirmation of payment and the billing information needed to complete your order, under their own privacy policy.
We count page views and adds to cart ourselves, on our own server, rather than handing your visit to an outside analytics company. It uses no cookies, records no IP address, and the only identifier is a random one stored in your browser, which stays there until you clear your browsing data. On its own, it tells us how many visits a page received, not who you are. When you finish the scent quiz, we keep your answers and the scents it suggested in the same anonymous way. If you then leave your email for your welcome code, or arrived from a link in one of our emails, we keep those results with your address, so the scents we suggest to you later suit your taste. If you place an order, we link that identifier to the email on your order, so the visits, carts and quiz results recorded in that browser are connected to you. The link between your browser and your order is deleted 6 months after your latest order in it.
If you start checking out and don't complete the order, we keep a record of what was in the cart along with the email address you entered, so we can see where checkout is going wrong and help if something broke. If you leave a checkout unfinished, we may send that email address one reminder about the cart, which can include a discount, with a link to unsubscribe from all our emails. Beyond that one reminder, we only use that email for marketing if you're subscribed to our emails. Separately, if you arrive from a link in one of our emails that carries a discount code issued to you personally, we can connect your visits on that browser to your subscriber email address. Placing an order does the same: the browser you order from is linked to the email on your order, along with the carts you filled in it. If you're subscribed to our emails, we may remind you of products you added to your cart. You can ask us to delete any of this at any time.
We use advertising cookies only if you accept them on our cookie banner. They let our advertising partners, who may be located outside Quebec, see which of our ads bring people to the shop. If you decline, nothing is shared while you browse. When you place an order, the terms you accept at checkout let us share that purchase with them (never your payment details), so we know which ads work. You can change your choice anytime with the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. To make the shop work, your browser stores a few things locally, like the contents of your cart and the checkout details you enter, so they aren't lost if you refresh. When you place an order, it also keeps your order number so we recognize you next time. This stays on your device and you can clear it anytime through your browser.
To run the shop, we rely on a small number of trusted service providers, for example to process payments, send emails, host the site, and store data securely. We share only the information they need to do their job, they're required to protect it, and some may process it outside Quebec. We never sell your personal information to anyone.
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, but no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure. While we work to safeguard your data, we can't guarantee its absolute security, and you share it with us at your own risk.
We keep order and customer records for as long as needed to fulfill your order, provide support, and meet our accounting and legal obligations. Records of unfinished checkouts are kept only while they remain useful for improving checkout. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete information we're not required to keep.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time. To make a request, write to info@nectaire.ca and we'll respond as required by law. If you're in Quebec, you also have rights under Law 25.
